The Myth of Poseidon
Poseidon is one of Gothenburg’s iconic sculptures, shrouded in many myths! We see them as truths, and the favorite goes like this:
Carl Milles created Poseidon in all his glory, but was rejected by the city’s bourgeois women. They thought Poseidon was far too daring!
Milles had no choice but to alter his work, but he made sure to add a personal touch...
To stay true to his vision, he repositioned the fish Poseidon is holding so that, from the right angle, it looks like a... well, a daring personality.
Hence the unofficial name, Milles’ Revenge.
